Chelsea has the worst campaign in its history in the Premier League; Lampard rules out permanence
After being defeated by Manchester City’s reserve team by 1 to 0, yesterday (21), at the Etihad Stadium, the opponent’s home, Chelsea secured yet another negative record for the club’s account in the English Premier League: the campaign of the current season is the worst in the history of the “Blues” in the Premier League.
If it manages to win the two remaining matches – against rivals Manchester United and Newcastle –, the team coached on an interim basis by Frank Lampard will reach 49 points Since 1992, the year in which England’s top league began to be played in the current format, Chelsea he just hadn’t scored more than 50 points in one edition: 1995/96.
Questioned about the club’s next steps, Lampard commented that he cannot predict the future and guarantees that he will not be the coach after the end of the championship. “It’s up to Chelsea to decide (the new directions) with the next manager”said the coach, who is in his second spell for the “Blues” in the role.

In addition to the score, the team can still be overtaken by West Ham and Wolverhampton and finish in 14th place. Currently, the team occupies the 12th place and is out of contention for a place in European competitions next season.
According to the English press, Frank Lampard will be replaced by Maurício Pochettino who – according to multiple sources – will be Chelsea’s new manager from the middle of the year. When asked about a possible continuity, Lampard replied: “A new professional will come with a different technical commission and do the job”he said.
If hired, Pochettino will make his second job in the Premier League. In his first spell, he led Tottenham – Chelsea’s local rival – between May 2014 and November 2019, leading the “Spurs” to two runners-up in England and a Champions League final, being defeated by Liverpool in the final by 2-0.
