“Putting on makeup is much more than just wearing makeup”

Singer Vitão used his Twitter account to talk about his use of makeup and what it represents for him as an artist. In the tweet, Vitão vents about how he feels about expressing himself using makeup and how it breaks down barriers.

“I have realized that putting on makeup is much more than just wearing makeup, it has a much greater meaning. It becomes a form of communication, a struggle for the “power to be and exist” as one wishes, for everyone, the human race, it goes beyond sexuality, gender or any other division.”he says. His fans still show support and also voice their opinions about men wearing makeup and how in Brazil it is still a taboo.

A fan says: “That’s it Victor, I’m very proud of you. Those of us who FOLLOW you, who have LISTENED TO WHAT YOU SAY FOR YEARS, know why you made this tweet. We know how much you are judged when you show up wearing makeup or wearing clothes that are “different” from what society expects you to wear. It’s a shame for those who don’t know you.”

The singer, who is participating in Dança dos Famosos, also caused a stir in December 2021, when he posted a photoshoot in which he was wearing a long dress, corset and a long braid with the caption “Rapunzel + Aladdin + tiger”. The “feminine” look was celebrated by some and judged by others; but Vitão continues to post photos of looks with cropped tops and makeup.

In another tweet he explains that his next release will be focused on this mindset and times when he received hate. “I’ll talk a lot about this in the coming days, my new release will communicate a lot about this too, the end of a tide of hate that I faced in my life to enter another moment where I can be many “me”s in one. We can transform ourselves, be walking metamorphoses.”
