Elton John is back with his family

Music legend Elton John, who turned 74 this year, is gearing up for the final shows of his farewell tour, which is scheduled to end in 2023. The singer has revealed that he will spend as much time as possible with his family after the tour ends.

“My kids are going to be teenagers soon. I need to be with them.”said the artist in an interview with the TV show, Today. The singer's sons Zachary and Elijah, are respectively 10 and 8 years old.

For Elton John, one of the main annoyances of his career is the constant traveling. “I don't know how much longer I have on this earth. You know, I've had enough applause. I don't want to be traveling anymore. I don't want to be away from my family.”revealed the musician according to People magazine.

Elton John's farewell tour had several shows postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the singer's hip surgery. The tour, which will resume in January 2022 in New Orleans, United States, will also feature shows in Europe and New Zealand.

“I'm going out in the best possible way, performing my best, with the most spectacular production I've ever had. I can't wait to see you on the road one last time. This tour has been incredible so far and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you on these final shows.”revealed Elton John, in a post on his Instagram when announcing the schedule of his last tour.

Over the course of his five-decade career, Elton John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the most successful musicians in the world. He has also received five Grammy Awards, five Brit Awards, two Oscars, two Golden Globes and a Tony Award.

The success and importance of his musical career earned him the title of “Sir”, which is awarded to knights of the Order of the British Empire, on February 24, 1998.

In addition to music, Elton John is also a big football fan, having even owned the English team Watford Football Club from 1976 to 1987 and from 1997 to 2002. Elton John is also honorary and life president of the club, and in 2014 one of the stands at the team's stadium, with a capacity for 3,400 spectators, was named “The Sir Elton John” in his honor.
