A Film by Beyoncé” breaks record for biggest concert film premiere in Brazil

“Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé”, a feature film that covers Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” tour, arrived in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (21) and has already become the biggest premiere of a concert film in the country.

According to Vogue Brasil, more than 67 thousand tickets were sold on the launch day alone, raising around R$2.4 million. Before “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé”, Taylor Swift's film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour”, occupied the position of biggest debut, with 61.7 thousand tickets sold and revenue of R$2.6 million.

This Thursday (21), the launch party for “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” took place in Brazil. The event titled “Club Renaissance” took place in Salvador, at the Convention Center, and, initially, would be attended by of fans selected by the singer. However, Beyoncé showed up at the surprise party.

Thursday night was marked by speculation about the singer's arrival on social media. The plan by Beyoncé's team was for the appearance to catch fans off guard, but early in the morning an internet user published that a jet, with the same characteristics as the one obtained by the singer, had left New York, in the United States, heading to Brazil .

Just a few hours after the start of “Club Renaissance”, alleged photos of Beyoncé disembarking at Salvador airport were leaked. On her Instagram, the singer joked about the leak, posting a montage of the horse, used on the cover of the album “Renaissance”, leaving the jet in Brazil. Soon after, Beyoncé took the stage at the Salvador Convention Center.

“I came because I love you so much”, said Beyoncé, holding a Bahian flag. “It was very important for me to be here, right here in Bahia. 'Renaissance' is about freedom, beauty, joy, resilience. Everything you are.”

Renaissance World Tour

The “Renaissance World Tour”, the tour behind Beyoncé's seventh studio album, had 59 shows in 39 different cities in Europe and North America. However, the singer's sixth tour did not pass through Brazil and Beyoncé was expected to announce it during her appearance in the country. Already on stage at the “Club Renaissance” event, the singer stated that she should not return to Brazil with the “Renaissance World Tour”.

“It was not possible to bring the Renaissance Tour, but I am very happy to give the film Renaissance so that you can be part of the Renaissance, because you are the Renaissance”, declared Beyoncé.

According to journalist José Norberto Flesh, known for anticipating concert announcements in Brazil, the singer is expected to perform in the country soon with another tour.
