A New Era' gets first teaser

'Downton Abbey 2: A New Era' has received its first teaser, still without subtitles in Portuguese. In it, only a few details of the plot are revealed, indicating that something in Lady Violet's (Maggie Smith) mysterious past will take the Grantham family and the Downton servants to the south of France.

In addition to Smith, other names familiar to fans of the series remain in the cast, such as Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Joanne Froggatt, Robert James-Collier, Phyllis Logan, Laura Carmichael, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Lesley Nicol and Penelope Wilton. The characters of Tuppence Middleton and Imelda Staunton, introduced in the first film in 2019, also return for the new film. The new names in the cast are Hugh Dancy ('Hannibal'), Laura Haddock ('White Lines'), Nathalie Baye, Dominic West ('Preacher') and Jonathan Zaccaï.

'Downton Abbey' was a highly successful British period drama series that aired between 2010 and 2015, with six seasons. The story follows the residents of Downton Abbey, the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. The plot is set in the early 20th century, with the family struggling to maintain their property, in addition to the daily issues of the servants who live in the mansion.

The series ends up addressing historical moments that had an impact on England in the early 20th century, with emphasis on the sinking of the Titanic and the First World War. In the 2019 film, the Crawley family welcomed the King and Queen of England to their estate. The new film continues the story from the end of its predecessor.

Series creator Julian Fellowes remains responsible for the script, with the direction passing to Simon Curtis ('Seven Days with Marilyn'). 'Downton Abbey 2: A New Era' is scheduled to premiere on March 18 in the United States, but there is still no set date for its release in Brazil.
