Abravanel family thanks the public for their affection in a letter after the farewell ceremony

Presenter Silvio Santos, who died last Saturday (17), victim of bronchopneumonia as a result of an influenza infection, was buried in a traditional Jewish ceremony last Sunday (18), in São Paulo. After the ceremony, the family thanked, in an open letter, the affection that the public always had for him. The letter was published on the personal profiles of his daughters and wife, Íris Abravanel.

“Dear leaders, businesspeople, customers, media colleagues, entities and dear Brazilian public, we want to express our gratitude for the affection, respect and all the tributes paid to our father. We hope all this love is being seen and absorbed by him. He knew he was loved, but he didn't know how much. We will strive and work to bring you joy, information and entertainment the same way he always has.

May SBT continue to have its essence and be produced for and by Brazilians. We love you too, just as he loved you. Thousands of people hugged us. Here, we want to express our gratitude to each of you and convey our embrace. Thank you very, very much. Abravanel Family”

Abravanel family

The presenter, who died of bronchopneumonia resulting from an influenza (H1N1) infection, leaves behind six daughters and fourteen grandchildren. He used to refer to his daughters by numbers, according to the order of birth: Cíntia (1); Silvia (2); Daniela (3); Patricia (4); Rebeca (5) and Renata (6).

Cintia Abravanel, the eldest daughter, is an artist and was never interested in working in her father's company. Silvia Abravanel started working on TV in 2004, presenting programs such as Casos da Realidade and Programa Cor-de-Rosa. Daniela Beyruti, the third daughter, is currently vice-president of SBT, being responsible for adjustments to programming since her father left the broadcaster. Patrícia Abravanel, the best known to the public, is a presenter at SBT and currently runs the Silvio Santos Program with Patrícia Abravanel, replacing her father. Rebeca Abravanel is the executive director of the Jequiti cosmetics brand, part of the Silvio Santos Group. Renata Abravanel serves as president of the Silvio Santos Group.
