Acclaimed Joyride Gets New 4K Remaster

Not even the death of Marie Fredriksson was able to overshadow the legacy that she and Per Gessle built together and in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the release of one of their greatest hits – Joyride – the song had its old music video remastered in 4K version.

With fond memories, Per Gessle comments on the original clip: “The MTV era It was fun because everything was so big and you kind of bought into all the crazy ideas people brought. There were precious few pessimistic obstacles – even if it meant you spent half the video sitting in the wind,” he recalls.

Still on the subject of production, Per continues: “Some of the so-called 'green screen' scenes are not there, as there simply wasn't enough time to recreate them. Instead, we found other good stuff in the raw footage that we included in the new version. It's been a lot of fun, and in the future we hope to be able to recreate the entire video exactly as it was. – and release all other major Roxette videos in 4K resolution”, ends.

The 4K remastering brought more richness in detail and sharpness in its colors. All of this is due to the more than 186 minutes of unreleased recordings retained and unused at EMI's studios in Los Angeles.

Thomas Ahlén, mastering and restoration specialist – and one of those involved in the project – talks about the hard work: “Since the videos have barely been used over the years, they are in excellent condition. The work itself has been quite time-consuming – just getting all the silent bits and pieces of the film to sync with the music was a challenge in itself – but the whole project has been incredibly fun and rewarding.” account.

Next Sunday (28), taking advantage of the success of the new version of the Joyride video, the self-titled album will gain a deluxe version on digital platforms. In addition to the original material, it will be composed of unreleased songs.
