Action, suspense and comedy in an epic battle against the giant shark

The film “Megatubarão 2” has everything it needs to become another box office success in theaters. Competing with “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”, the suspense film will arrive in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (03) and, aiming to mix reality with fiction, it will be the continuation of “Megatubarão”, released in 2018, available for HBO MAX and Prime Video streaming subscribers. According to the trailer, the film promises to be a mix of comedy and suspense while showing the evolution of the shark species that has existed since 65 million years. Jonas Taylor, played by 56-year-old actor Jason Statham, will return to the film to continue the fight against his greatest enemy, the giant shark.

Expectations for the film

The film promises to have a lot of action, suspense and some comedy scenes. According to the trailer, you can see how long the species of huge sharks had to survive, during the Cretaceous period, where sharks had to coexist even with prehistoric creatures and other giant species to multiply and survive. Expectations are high to see actor Jason Statham as Jonas Taylor again.

However, according to critics, the film only achieved a 50% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, leaving many critics in doubt about the new film, with 50 positive reviews and 49 negative reviews, which yielded a low rating of 5.6.

“Megashark 1”

The first film in the saga focuses on a group of explorers who are trapped in a submarine by a shark that has existed since prehistoric times. While everyone already declared that the species had been extinct from the oceans, Chinese oceanographer Winston Chao hires Jason Statham, whose character had already faced the species and is an expert in deep sea diving. With a team, Chao tries to keep the species as far away from his family as possible.
