Actress Millie Bobby Brown explains about her character and the Upside Down; watch

It is finally revealed that the conflict between the protagonist Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, and 001, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, in fact gave rise to the opening that led the Upside Down to mix with reality.

This Friday (17), in an interview given to the Variety website, actress Millie explained about her character, it was Eleven who created the alternative reality or just allowed access to it, she replied “She opens the rift.” And he continued to say, “I think the alternate universe was always there. There was always going to be something under Hawkins. I just think she had access to it.” Furthermore, she revealed that she doesn't think it was Eleven who created the Upside Down and completed it. “No, I think it (The Upside Down) was always there, I just think Eleven created a portal to it that no one had had before.”

The actress revealed that in the early stages of the first season, she had to match her performance with that of child actress Martie Blair, who played the 9-year-old version of Eleven. After filming, Blair's face was digitally swapped with Brown's, she explained. “We did this really cool process called the Lola machine,” and went on to say that for three days she worked in the character's room in the lab and basically the child actress did all the scenes she had done, but she only acted with Blair's face to replicate all her movements.

Additionally, she helped the child actress get into character and revealed that before scenes she would go to set and direct her in everything. There were moments behind the scenes where she said, “I would hide behind the wall and yell at her when she got anxious about it. I would help her with facial twitching and things like that – very specific things that probably no one would even notice but me; but I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I didn’t help her with that.”

In fact, “Stranger Things” is in its most mature year so far, it's no wonder it's having an inexplicable success with scenes that inject terror and tension. It's worth remembering that at the end of Vol. 1 of Season 4, there's the most anticipated battle between Eleven and 001 who, at another point, opened a portal to the Upside Down and the origin of the season's most fearless villain: Vecna.

During the interview, the actress revealed that in Vol. 2 of season 4 of “Stranger Things”the directors will explain the origin of the parallel universe and its connection to Hawkins. The premiere will be on July 1st, on Netflix.
