On Tuesday afternoon (24), Deolane Bezerra, influencer, businesswoman and lawyer, was released from prison in Buíque, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. The release occurred after a decision by the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE), which favored 18 suspects.

Deolane loses electronic ankle bracelet

Deolane, the target of an operation for money laundering and illegal gambling, was detained in the Buíque Women's Penal Colony, located about 280 km from Recife, since the 10th. The Court initially granted house arrest to the influencer, but the decision was annulled one day after her release from prison in the capital, and she was sent to the prison in the interior.

The habeas corpus that freed Deolane on Tuesday was granted by the case's rapporteur, Judge Eduardo Guilliod Maranhão. He responded to a request from the defense of Darwin Filho, another suspect in the scheme, and extended the benefit to the other prisoners.

Deolane was supposed to be monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet, but she lost this right for failing to comply with a court order that prohibited her from speaking out on social media, in the press or through other means. This time, unlike the previous decision, she will not have to wear the ankle bracelet.

Strict rules for provisional release

As a condition for provisional release, the influencer and the other suspects must follow certain rules such as not being able to change their address without judicial authorization, not being able to leave the District where they reside without judicial authorization, not being able to commit another intentional criminal offense, and must appear in person at the Court of the 12th Criminal Court of the Capital, within 24 hours, to sign the Commitment Term, be aware of the precautionary measures and provide their updated address.

In addition, the judge prohibited the suspects from visiting companies involved in Operation Integration or participating in any decision-making regarding the economic activities of these companies. They are also prohibited from advertising or mentioning any gaming platform.

Judge Guilliod also maintained the freezing of funds and the seizure of assets as requested by the Civil Police within the scope of the Operation Integration investigation.

R$3 billion scheme uncovered

On September 4, Deolane Bezerra was arrested during Operation Integration, which investigated a gang suspected of moving R$3 billion in a money laundering scheme originating from gambling. Her mother, Solange Bezerra, was also detained. More than 10 people, including businessman Darwin Henrique da Silva Filho, owner of the betting house Esportes da Sorte, and his wife, Maria Eduarda Filizola, were arrested in the same operation.

After her arrest, Deolane confirmed that she had purchased a Lamborghini Urus S from Darwin for R$3.85 million. According to the Civil Police, the cash transactions related to the purchase and sale of luxury cars by Darwin's company raised suspicions of money laundering from gambling and sports betting. The court ordered the seizure of assets, including aircraft and luxury cars, and the freezing of assets worth R$2.1 billion. The total amount frozen requested by the police was R$3 billion.

In July, Deolane opened the betting company ZEROUMBET with capital of R$30 million, which, according to the police, was created to launder money from illegal gambling. The courts blocked R$20 million from Deolane and R$14 million from her company. The influencer declared that she had a monthly income of R$1.5 million. Deolane's mother was also involved in the scheme, leading to the blocking of R$3 million from her accounts.

The operation carried out 24 search and seizure warrants, seizing properties, boats, aircraft, vehicles and luxury items. After her arrest, Deolane published a letter on Instagram, claiming that she and her family are victims of prejudice and calling her mother's arrest a “great injustice”. She said the investigation would prove her innocence.

On September 9, the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE) granted habeas corpus to the influencer, imposing house arrest, the use of an electronic ankle bracelet and precautionary measures, such as a ban on speaking to the press or expressing herself on social media. However, upon leaving prison, Deolane spoke to the media and posted a photo on Instagram with her mouth covered with tape with an “X”. After failing to comply with these measures, her house arrest was revoked, and she was transferred to Buíque.

Deolane's defense, represented by the law firm Adélia Soares Advogados, stated that the investigation is being conducted under confidentiality and that she is available to collaborate with the investigation. Esportes da Sorte, in turn, issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to legality.

On the 23rd, the Pernambuco Court ordered the arrest of singer Gusttavo Lima as part of the same operation that also arrested Deolane. That night, the Pernambuco Court of Justice ordered the release of Deolane and 17 other suspects, with Judge Eduardo Guilliod Maranhão accepting a habeas corpus request made by Darwin Filho's defense and extending the benefit to the other detainees.
