Tadic elected Eredivisie Player of the Year
Dusan Tadic was voted Premier League Player of the Year on Wednesday. The Captain of Ajax had a big part in the 35th league title of the Amsterdam-club last season with fourteen goals and seventeen assists.
The 32-year-old Tadic received the award, an initiative of the Eredivisie CV and TV channel ESPN, in Holland Casino in Amsterdam. Due to the coronavirus, no audience was allowed to attend.
Based on statistics and votes from fans, a list of twenty nominees was initially drawn up. In the end, four of them remained: Tadic, Davy Klaassen (Ajax), Steven Berghuis (switched from Feyenoord to Ajax this summer) and Giorgos Giakoumakis, who crowned himself the top scorer of the Eredivisie last season at VVV-Venlo.
Of those four, Tadic was judged the best. He owed this partly to the votes of the eighteen captains in the Eredivisie, who played an important role in the final result.
The 32-year-old Tadic also received the Golden Boot for best player in the Eredivisie after last season, as the winner of a ranking drawn up by De Telegraaf. There he left teammate Klaassen (Zilveren Schoen) and PSV’er Donyell Malen (Bronze Shoe) behind him.
Last season, no prizes were handed out due to the discontinuation of the Eredivisie. A year earlier, Frenkie de Jong, also on behalf of Ajax, won the award for the best Eredivisie player of the year.

Gravenberch greatest talent, oeuvre prize for Robben
The award for best Eredivisie player under 21 also went to an Ajacied. Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch left five other nominees behind in the election for greatest talent. The coaches from the Eredivisie had an important voice in the election.
The award for best referee went to Björn Kuipers. The 48-year-old Oldenzaler whistled the European Championship final between Italy and England this summer and announced shortly afterwards that he would stop whistling.
Arjen Robben, who also recently put an end to his career, received the first oeuvre prize. The 37-year-old former star player made a surprising comeback at his old club FC Groningen a year ago, but due to injuries that was not what he had hoped for.
The prize of best goal of the season went to Feyenoord player Marcos Senesi. The defender scored last season against ADO Den Haag with an unparalleled turn.
