According to data confirmed by INPE, at the end of July the number of fires had surpassed those that occurred in 2023, when 1,947 fire outbreaks were recorded. The responsible agency also states that, at the end of that month, more specifically on the 14th and 20th, 878 fire outbreaks were recorded, with an increase of 387% in fires.
According to INPE, the municipalities that lead this ranking of fires are Apuí (685), Lábrea (626) and Manicoré (179). On the 21st, monitoring recorded that there were 301 fire outbreaks, on the same day there were six fires, which represented a 4,916% increase.
Human interference
The Amazon, because it is humid, they believe that it would not be so easy for it to catch fire, but rather that it would be caused by human interference. And they say that these fires are usually started with the intention of clearing pastures in the forest and they say that much of the pollution caused by fires is caused by human crime.
The Amazon is of great importance and relevance to the Earth's atmosphere, which is why fires and major devastation can cause concern for human life. They say that the number of fires may increase at the end of this month due to the droughts in the Amazon.
Compared to February last year, with 734 fires, the Amazon has seen an increase of almost 300% in the number of fires. INPE is monitoring the situation and says that this number could increase by the end of the month.
