Amber Heard on appeal in case against Depp –
Why is Amber Heard appealing her Johnny Depp defamation case?
The American actress Amber Heard, as previously announced, appeals against the verdict in the defamation case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp. Both sides met on Friday to discuss a compensation settlement. Instead, Heard’s lawyer said the actress is appealing. However, the high costs of this can throw a spanner in the works.
According to Deadline, the judge has decided that Heard must hand over more than 8 million dollars (7.9 million euros) in bail to prosecute the lawsuit. She must also pay 6 percent interest on that amount to Depp for each year that the case drags on.
Lawyer Elaine Bredehoft said earlier that it is “impossible” for the actress to transfer that amount. “But you’re not going to come to a settlement if you’re innocent. And you don’t shy away from an appeal if you know you’re right,” said a spokesman on behalf of Heard’s legal team.
Depp and Heard fought a grueling defamation case that was closely followed worldwide, as the hearings could be followed live online. Depp was ultimately proved right by the jury on all counts, so Heard has to pay him 15 million dollars. Depp, in turn, has to pay $2 million to Heard, who was vindicated on one point.
Both sides had hoped for more. Depp asked for $50 million and Heard demanded double that.
Amber heard comes out
Heard announced almost immediately that she would appeal.
Heard said he was “broken” by the jury’s verdict. “I can’t put into words how disappointed I am. My heart is broken. A mountain of evidence was not enough in the face of the extraordinary influence my ex-husband has,” the actress wrote.
Heard says he has evidence that has been kept out of the case. That evidence would exonerate her on appeal, she claims.
Depp wrote on Instagram after the defamation case that the jury has given him his life back. “My goal was to reveal the truth, no matter what the outcome would be.
I owed it to my children and the people who support me to tell the truth. And now that I’ve done that, I feel peaceful.”

Whatever “extra” evidence she would have found, she had so much self-invented evidence that she lost. He has played in several beautiful films but I doubt that his influence is so high that he has been able to influence the process, he enjoyed much, much more sympathy than she did but that was entirely up to her. I think it’s very stupid that she doesn’t take her loss and admitting that she gambled and lost would, I think, bring her more than what she’s doing now, trying to damage him even more.

My opinion: Amber, stop these lawsuits, you have lost and have public opinion against you after previous trial. Save your costs, pay Depp, and let it rest. In my opinion, you are both losers if you bring out such details (in the previous process) about your relationship (for the whole world). Two fights, two debts.

If she really has additional evidence that she kept out of the trial, that’s really stupid. And this appeal is probably more motivated by her legal team, which fills its pockets with its money.
