Anitta becomes the most listened to Brazilian artist on Spotify

After the release of “São Paulo“, feat with The Weeknd, released last Wednesday (30), Anitta became the most listened to Brazilian artist on Spotify. The combination of Brazilian and North American voices made the artist total more than 35, 5 million listeners.

Best funk debut

In addition to being the most listened to Brazilian on the platform, with the launch of São Paulo, Anitta is taking the country to ever greater heights. This is because the track became the biggest funk debut in the history of Spotify Global, having entered the top 10.

“São Paulo” is the third single from The Weeknd's new album. Titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow“, two more tracks had also been released previously, such as “Dancing in the Flames” and “Timeless“, feat with Playboi Carti. The artist brought the songs from the album first hand to Brazil in his last performance in São Paulo in September, in addition to having performed by surprise the first live performance of “São Paulo” with Anitta.

Billions of streams

Before Anitta achieved the feat, she became the first Brazilian pop artist to reach the milestone of reaching 1 billion streams in 2024. The culmination took place in May, shortly after the release of her new album “Funk Generation“, which debuted in April.

It is worth highlighting that “Funk Generation” allowed Anitta to enter the list of the 40 most performed artists on her debut, in addition to having managed to surpass 10 million streams on Spotify and charting 14 of the album's 15 tracks in the Billboard Hot 100 Brazil ranking.

The album, which brings a nostalgic journey through funk and recalls Anitta's period in Furacão 2000, one of the precursors of Rio funk, was also declared by Billboard US as one of the best Latin albums of 2024, an aspect that thus consolidates Anitta in the music scene. music not only nationally but also internationally.
