Anitta’s “Funk Generation” is nominated for a Grammy

This Friday (08), the American Recording Academy announced that “Funk Generation”, Anitta's album, was competing in the Best Latin Pop Album category at the Grammy awards, being Funk's first nominated at the ceremony.

The singer, formerly national, but currently on an international scale, Anitta, announced her new album on March 21, 2024, after the release of her single “Double Team”.

Generating many spectators to vibrate, awaiting their new productions, on April 26th of the same year “Funk Generation” arrived on all music streaming apps and music stores, featuring 15 tracks of both Brazilian Funk and some songs adapted to the market. International.

With mixed reviews from the public and positive reviews from music critics, in the first week of release, the album accumulated 44,561,920 million streams and became the biggest weekly debut of a Brazilian album in 2024, showing its cultural impact.

On Spotify, the album had 12,779,545 streams on the first day, being Anitta's biggest debut and the biggest first day of streams for a Brazilian album, to date, on Spotify in 2024.

Not only appearing to be nationally recognized, Anitta also achieved 14 of the 15 tracks on the Billboard Brasil Hot 100, with the song “Grip” in the best position, even though the Funk genre is typically national.

Furthermore, in Spotify's global ranking, the album appeared in 2⁰ place worldwide and in the United States in 8⁰.

The Grammy and Funk recognition

Through such success generated, “Funk Generation” was recently recognized by the Grammys with a nomination for the Best Latin Pop Album category, being the first Brazilian Funk in history to participate in the same.

The singer's recording will also compete with Luis Fonsi for “El Viaje”, Kany García for “García”, Shakira for “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” and Kali Uchis for “Orchids”.

Now, we just have to wait for the pop artist's chance at an award and greater recognition of her journey.
