Anne Hathaway rules out idea for The Devil Wears Prada 2

The feature film “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006) is one of the most renowned productions in terms of cinema and fashion, serving as a reference for thousands of people. Since it was released, there has been much speculation about the possibility of a sequel film, but protagonist Anne Hathaway doesn't seem very excited about the idea. In an interview with The View, the actress gave the following statement: “I don’t know if there would be (a sequel). This film was made in a different time. Now everything has become so digital and this film is centered around the concept of producing a physical thing and it’s very different.”

Despite thinking that the 2006 production does not fit into a current context, Anne took advantage of the question to imagine what the characters would be like today. “It's tempting to think about Andy and Emily needing to get Miranda coffee and she's somewhere in Europe. And along the way they look for Stanley Tucci in Italy, who is in a restaurant. It’s tempting, but I don’t think it will happen.”, concluded. The actress also suggested a reboot of the franchise, with new actors in a new format.

The film directed by David Frankel, takes place in New York and tells the story of Andy, a young graduate who gets a job at the renowned fashion magazine Runway, as an assistant to owner Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Streep's character represents a temperamental and abusive boss, who makes her assistant's work very difficult. The plot presents a problematic work environment, and shows how these issues influence each person's personal life, highlighting the limits and difficulties that involve a company system. With a budget of US$35 million, the production raised more than US$326.

Some classics work well without a sequel, even giving the impression of being an untouchable work, which seems to be the case with “The Devil Wears Prada”. Or at least until they announce a reboot.
