Apple Watch – Apple is being taken to court in the United States. According to the plaintiff, the tech giant discriminates against dark-skinned people with its Apple Wat-ch, Apple Insider reports Tuesday.

Apple Watch users can use the Blood Oxygen app to measure the amount of oxygen in their blood. That percentage can say something about your overall health. Most people have a saturation value of between 95 and 100 percent.
But the sensor works less well in people with dark skin color, the plaintiff claims. Users would not have been informed of this by Apple. The plaintiff claims that this is dangerous because people can get incorrect oxygen percentages through their Apple Watch.
The class action lawsuit was filed Saturday in New York. The case affects all residents of the U.S. states of Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Utah and Wyoming who have purchased an Apple Wat-ch since 2020.
In that year, the tech giant added the blood oxygen sensor to its Apple Wat-ch.
It’s not the first time there have been complaints about the Apple Wat-ch regarding the skin. In 2015, users complained that black tattoos interfered with the device’s heart sensor. The company then confirmed the problem.
