Artificial Intelligence, school dropout and mental health are likely topics for the Enem essay

This Sunday (3), the first part of the National High School Exam (Enem) will be held, administered by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep). On the first day, the participant will be faced with 90 questions from languages ​​and human sciences. In addition, students will write an essay with a maximum of 30 lines.

With the day of the test approaching, it is common for students to create expectations regarding the topic of the essay. The main bets on the agenda for this year are Artificial Intelligence, school dropout or mental health.

These guesses are based only on themes from recent years and are just speculations, as the revelation will only be when the exam sheets are handed in, but they can serve the candidate as preparation and help. The Participant Handbook says that the wording “will require the production of a prose text, of a dissertation-argumentative type, on a social, scientific, cultural or political topic”.

In 2023, the page with the essay's theme was leaked on social media, and the Federal Police were contacted by Inep.

Artificial Intelligence is the most rated

Some Portuguese language and writing teachers gave their thoughts on the possible topic. As a result, some platforms that focus on helping students with Enem, in addition to providing some tips for taking the test, consulted teachers to list some likely topics.

The portal “Uncomplicated” listed ten possible topics that could be the topic of the newsroom in 2024. According to them, the likely “Artificial Intelligence and its regulations”where the student can cite points on how AI has changed art productions and different types of work, in addition to highlighting the dissemination of information carried out by the platform, much of it false. The participant may cite government intervention with laws to prevent such an event.

Other likely themes

School dropout and mental health in Brazil complete the podium, according to the portal. The first theme deals with students dropping out of school and what leads people to do this. Some reasons could be poor school infrastructure, child labor, poverty or violence. The second deals with health problems, such as anxiety or depression. The participant will be able to open the range by citing broader topics, such as the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic or the impacts of social media.

The themes that complete the top-10 are, respectively: inclusion of people with disabilities; food security, obesity and eating disorders; prison system; property violence against women in Brazil; teacher blackout; precariousness of the job market in the country; disappearance of people in the country.
