Barbie shoe launch raises expectations for movie

After many requests and many years waiting, finally the live-action Barbie movie will be released. Starring the renowned Margot Robbie, the feature is scheduled for release in July, but has already set a trend in fashion. To increase expectations, Mattel announced a partnership between the most famous doll in the world and Piccadilly, a Brazilian footwear brand. Check out:

Barbie, created in 1959 by the North American Ruth Handler, co-founder of Mattel, marked generations. More recently, the barbiecorea style that features pink as a highlight, was one of the main fashion trends of 2022. The aesthetic was mainly driven by rumors about the live-action recordings.

In addition to stars like Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film will also feature personalities like Dua Lipa, Emma Mackey, Sharon Rooney and Nicola Coughlan. One of the differentials of the plot will be adaptations according to changes in modern society, with the right to new facets of the doll, such as Barbie who won the Nobel Prize in physics, or a lawyer and diplomat.

Piccadilly vice-president and product director, Ana Carolina Grings, highlighted that this is the first collaboration of the label from Rio Grande do Sul.

“For the big moment, we teamed up with one of the most beloved brands in the world to connect diverse generations of fans and ensure that everyone finds their ideal shoe model according to their tastes, preferences and needs. We know how much fashion has an impact on self-esteem and we increasingly want to offer comfortable and stylish shoes to our consumers”, pointed.

Angel Hidalgo, Licensing Director in Latin America at Mattel, also celebrated the news. “We are working to make 2023 the pinkest year, with the mission to expand the dissemination of the Barbie movie alongside strategic partners, to connect with fans of all ages in Brazil, bringing nostalgia, fun, inclusion and diversity, purposes of our brand.”

The shoe collection will be officially launched in June and all shoes will be on sale at Piccadilly e-commerce, franchise and multi-brand stores as sizes 33 to 40.
