Biden meets with Ukrainian ministers
US President Joe Biden is still in Europe and will speak to Ukrainian ministers in the Polish capital Warsaw on Saturday. There he also visits reception centres for refugees and will give a speech later in the day. Ukraine reports that since the outbreak of the war, 136 children have died as a result of the violence.

The consultations in Moscow are officially about the situation on the Korean peninsula, where North Korea has probably fired new missiles. However, the meeting takes place at a time when China is criticized by, among others, the US, for not speaking more firmly about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The diplomatic summits come at a time when Ukrainians are making progress in the capital Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine. On Saturday, Ukrainian local authorities claim that the armed forces in Kharkiv, the country’s second city, have launched a counteroffensive to push back the Russians.
“We are not only defending our positions, but also liberating occupied territory,” the authorities report via Telegram. CNN reports this message, but cannot verify the claims.
Furthermore, the report states that in the previous night “only” 24 shellings took place in Kharkiv, a relatively small number compared to other nights.
Nevertheless, it is expected that the Russian aggression will not lie down, reported the British Ministry of Defense in a daily update. The British are expecting heavy bombardments in the coming days. Urban areas in particular will continue to be targeted by the attacks.
The Russians also achieved success in the northern town of Slavutych, near the occupied Chernobyl. The town is mainly home to people who used to work at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant until it exploded in 1986. The Russian capture led to protests among the population.

Of the deceased children, 64 were killed in the Kyiv region. 50 children have died in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine.
