“Billboard Hot 100” releases retrospective with the biggest musical hits of 2022

Today (01) it was Billboard's turn to release its year-end list, the famous “Year-end Charts”. The release includes several lists that show the most prominent artists of the year. The most relevant list is the “Hot 100 songs”, which uses as a criterion the performance of the songs in the Hot 100 chart, which is considered the main ranking in the United States.

This year, the song “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals took first place, beating the favorite for the position, which was “As It Was” by Harry Styles, which occupies second place on the list.

The reason for this is that even though “As It Was” was the song that spent the longest at #1, “Heat Waves” had been in the spotlight for longer, reaching the top of the ranking in March, while Harry’s hit was only released in April, so it was a question of longevity that defined the top spot.

The song “Heat Waves” was released in the United Kingdom on June 29, 2020, and was released on American platforms on February 9, 2021, taking 59 weeks to reach the top of the Billboard.

“As It Was” debuted at #1 and spent 15 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the American charts, becoming the solo song that spent the longest time at number one.
