Blue Beetle has a release date set

“Blue Beetle”, was initially going to be released by Warner on the HBO Max streaming service, but plans changed and it was decided to release the film in theaters. The story of Jaime Reyes, a young man of Mexican origin who will have his bone structure altered and will also acquire powers, after coming into contact with armor of extraterrestrial origin, will be told to the viewer.

In the hero's history, there are other Blue Beetles besides Reyes. The trajectory of the young man of Latin origin is presented to comic book readers in the third comic book of the Infinite Crisis series, which dates back to 2006, and was not published in Brazil, without having any association with any Brazilian editions. However, around 2011, DC decided to make new versions of all its heroes, and Blue Beetle gained a solo comic book series. The character was created by Cully Hamner, John Rogers, Keith Giffen and Geoff Johns. Jaime Reyes' Blue Beetle appeared in the game “Injustice 2” and in the cartoon “Young Justice”.

The director will be Puerto Rican Angel Manuel Soto, who will also be responsible for directing the new Transformers film, and the script will be in charge of Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, responsible for directing the short film “Countergrain”, from 2014. Production will apparently begin in the first half of 2022 and DC still has a long list of films to premiere before “Blue Beetle”. These are: “Batman”, “Black Adam”, “The Flash”, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”.
