Botafogo is banned from going to the game against Peñarol

The Botafoguenses were surprised with the information that they would be banned from attending the club's next game that will take place this Wednesday (30) against Peñarol, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Uruguay's interior minister, Nicolas Martinelli, made a formal request to the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF), asking for a single crowd, as they allege a lack of security for Botafogo fans, which was accepted by the Association.

Botafogo spoke out through its social networks, claiming that it strongly disagrees with the decision and that it believes that Uruguay is fully capable of maintaining the safety of its fans and that this attitude sets a precedent for any other association to prevent visiting fans from entering the stadium. Uruguayan fans robbed a kiosk, set fire to motorcycles, vandalized cars and clashed with beachgoers and military police armed with stones, tables and chairs.
