It will be the second Games for both Fontijn and Lacruz. They were both there five years ago in Rio de Janeiro. Fontijn then won silver and Lacruz was eliminated in the round of 16.

At the time, Lacruz was the first Dutch boxer since 1992 (Arnold Vanderleyde) to play at the Games. With three bronze medals, Vanderleyde is also the most successful Dutch boxer of all time at the Games.

Max van der Pas, Artjom Kasparian and Jemyma Betrian previously grabbed a ticket to the Tokyo Games, which kick off on July 23 with a year’s delay.
