Boys with ‘firearms’ arrested in Gouda
“You have to put on your heavy vests”, the police in Gouda were told via the control room. A witness had reported that a boy in a group in the Korte Akkeren district was standing with a firearm in his hand and was pointing it at passers-by. Officers with drawn service weapons arrested three boys, aged 14 and 15, near the Guldenburg.
CCTV footage from the area showed police believed it may have been a firearm. There would also be a fight. Several officers held the suspects at gunpoint. The boys were apprehended, searched and transferred to a cell complex.

However, the ‘firearms’ carried by the boys turned out to be blackened water pistols. “A stupid move that could have had major consequences,” police wrote on Facebook accompanying a photo of the “weapons.” “Without black paint, they would have remained just water pistols. With the black paint, however, the story could have end very differently.”
