Brazil beats Türkiye and brings the women's volleyball bronze from Paris

The women's volleyball team won the final against the Turkish team by 3 sets to 1 (25/21, 27/25, 22/25 and 25/15), this Saturday (10/8), in the dispute for third place at the Paris Olympic Games. The Turkish team toughened up the game, but not enough to win the bronze medal.

The game took place at the Paris South Arena in the capital. The Brazilian team dominated most of the match. Turkey was looking for an unprecedented medal in this competition. On the other hand, this is Brazil's third bronze among six podiums in women's volleyball at the Olympics.

With this result, another medal goes to Brazil, which already has 20 in the event. The country was champion in the 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London) editions, won silver in Tokyo in 2020 and bronze in Atlanta, 1996 and, in 2000, also brought bronze from Sydney.

The defeat to the USA in the semifinals needed to be put behind us and it was no surprise: the women's team regained their enthusiasm and went in search of third place on the podium. In the first set, Turkey took the lead, but Thaisa reacted well with an ace and the team ended up tying the score, and in the end they won the set. Efficient blocks, precise releases and sets gave us the upper hand. The match ended 25 x 21 for Brazil.

In the second set, the Turks pressed, opening up a 4-point lead, bothering the Brazilian team. However, the yellow-shirted team resisted and turned the game in their favor: 27 x 25.

A stone in the path

Turkey won the third set and began to react with more determination, making life more difficult for our athletes. But in the fourth set, the girls took the bronze from the Turks by 25 x 15. The final of the category will be on Sunday (11), between the United States and Italy — which had defeated Turkey in the semi-final — starting at 8 am (Brasília time).
