Brazil draws with the United States in the last friendly before the Copa América

The Brazilian team faced the United States on Wednesday night (12) at the Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, in their last friendly before the Copa América. The duel ended in a 1-1 draw, with goals from Rodrygo for Brazil and Pulisic for the North Americans.

Brazil takes the lead with Rodrygo

Unlike the previous match against Mexico, coach Dorival Júnior chose to start the game with the starting team. In the first minutes, the United States showed danger against the Brazilian goal, coming close to opening the scoring with Musah and Pulisic. However, it was Brazil who found the net first. In the 16th minute, after a poor throw by goalkeeper Turner, Bruno Guimarães headed the ball to Raphinha, who passed it to Rodrygo. The number 10 shot crossed and opened the scoring for the Brazilian team.

United States draw with Pulisic

Playing at home, the United States were undeterred and continued attacking, scoring an equalizer through Pulisic. In the 25th minute of the first half, captain Pulisic was fouled by João Gomes close to the line of the area. He himself took the free kick with a low shot that went straight into the back of the net, leaving everything the same. The first half ended with the score at 1-1.

Dispute in the final stage

In the second half, Brazil returned to the field with some changes and a more offensive scheme. However, they faced a more closed US team. During the final 45 minutes, both teams came close to scoring, with chances for Rodrygo and Vini Jr. for Brazil and Pulisic again for the United States.

The Brazilian coach also put Endrick on the field, who created good opportunities, but was unable to convert. In the final stretch, both teams continued to miss the target and maintained a 1-1 score.

Upcoming games

This was the last test for the two teams before the Copa América and, from now on, they will focus on the teams' final preparation for the continental tournament. Brazil debuts in the Copa América on June 24th, against Costa Rica, in group D. While the United States, faces Bolivia on the 23rd, in the first round of group C.
