Britney's Landscape: Praise for Spears' Conservatorship
Another chapter in Britney Spears' conservatorship has come to light. Jamie Spears, the singer's father, has said that Britney has been battling addiction and mental health issues and that he should be commended for looking out for his daughter's best interests for all these years.
Jamie's statements came in a document filed with the Los Angeles County Court, according to a report in the Daily Mail. Jamie was the legal guardian of Britney Spears' estate, which is valued at $60 million, but he resigned from the position he had held since 2008.
According to the file sent to the court, Jamie says “If the public knew all the facts of Ms. Spears' personal life — not just her highs, but also her lows, the addiction and mental health issues she has struggled with, and all the challenges of the conservatorship — they would commend Mr. Spears for the work he has done, not vilify him.”
According to the description of the document submitted to the Los Angeles court, Jamie denied that he controlled the medication that Britney was using and indicated that Jodi Montgomery, the pop singer's personal guardian, was responsible for supervising Britney's medications. In the document, Jamie says that the public does not know the facts. “But the public does not know all the facts and they have no right to know; so there will be no public rescue for Mr. Spears,” added.

Jamie stated that this entire conservatorship process happened only to protect Britney and not tarnish her reputation. “There is no doubt that the conservatorship saved Ms. Spears from disaster, supported her when she needed it most, protected her and her reputation, and facilitated the restoration of her career,” shows Mr. Spears' document that acknowledged that such measures limited the singer's life.
