Brooke Shields has become the founder and CEO of her new hair care brand, Commence, which focuses on women over 40. The company was founded with a $3.5 million fundraising effort and launched its first product line in June of this year. The actress and businesswoman seems very happy and excited about her new professional phase.

Start

The first inspirations to create a new business came during the pandemic, when Brooke Shields was participating in online blogs where she met women over 40 who felt excluded by the beauty market, which did not meet their needs.

Seeing this important market segment, Brooke Shields began researching and formulating her new brand focused on this audience. She enlisted the help of Karla De Bernardo (who worked on the marketing team at Macy's) and Mark Knitowski (who developed products for Victoria's Secret). Both helped her take the first steps in developing her products.

The line launched in June included a dry shampoo, a leave-in conditioner and a serum for the roots. The products were sold for around R$150.00.

The 59-year-old businesswoman says she is happy with this exciting and challenging new phase of her career. Brooke Shields also says she had difficulty winning over investors, who were more interested in giving moral lessons than investing in the project.

Who is Brooke Shields

Brooke Christa Shields began her career very early, acting in a commercial at 11 months old. At 12 she gained notoriety in the film world when she starred in the historical drama film Pretty Baby.

She continued her acting and modeling career until 1983, when she decided to pursue a bachelor's degree in French literature. The actress returned to acting in 1990, playing minor roles. In 2017, she began playing a prominent character in the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Brooke Shields is now focusing on her new phase as an entrepreneur. The sales figures for her first products have not yet been released, nor when new lines will be launched, but everyone involved in the project remains confident.
