Bruce Willis makes public appearance in Los Angeles after dementia diagnosis

Bruce Willis, the iconic 69-year-old actor, was seen in a rare public appearance last Sunday (8), during a walk in Studio City, Los Angeles. The image, released by the international press, shows Willis in a black car, wearing a blue cap and a white t-shirt, accompanied by security guards.

Leave due to health conditions

Willis retired from professional activities in March 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that compromises the ability to speak. In March 2023, the actor's family revealed that he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a neurodegenerative condition that affects language and behavior.

Since then, Bruce Willis has made sporadic appearances on social media through posts by his daughters, Rumer, Tallulah and Scout Willis, his marriage to actress Demi Moore and his wife, Emma Heming. Willis' last public photo was released in July, when Emma shared a message that reflected what she believed Willis would like to say, despite raising doubts about her ability to communicate. “I imagine what Bruce would have said: 'I hope you remember to stay hydrated'. I support you. Stay strong and safe! I'm so proud of you,” Emma wrote.

Family relationships and support during diagnosis

Bruce Willis was married to Demi Moore from 1987 to 2000, and even after their divorce, their relationship remained friendly. After Willis' diagnosis, Demi became even closer to her ex-husband and, in 2023, moved into the home of Bruce and his current wife, Emma Heming, to support the family during this challenging time.

Frontotemporal dementia, the condition Willis faces, causes significant changes in behavior and personality, including disinhibition, loss of empathy, poor judgment, impulsivity and compulsive behaviors. The illness has led Willis to withdraw from professional activities and public life.
