Stadium event history
Engenhão was founded on June 30, 2007 due to the Pan American Games that took place in Rio de Janeiro that same year. The stadium is owned by the City of Rio de Janeiro, however, Botafogo holds the stadium concession until 2051. The stadium has hosted major events such as the Copa América in 2021 and international shows such as, for example, the band “Rebelde” and singer Taylor Swift; the venue has a capacity for 45,217 thousand people and is the sixteenth largest stadium in Brazil.
The Mané Garrincha Stadium is the second largest Brazilian stadium and was founded in 1974, but was renovated for the World Cup in Brazil which took place in 2014. The Arena is not only used for football matches, as it is considered the largest event complex of Brazil with 830,000 m² of area. Still for 2024, the Arena has a very busy show schedule featuring tenor Andrea Bocelli, Ivete Sangalo, Ludmilla, Forfun and the 30th anniversary tour of the group “Só pra contrariar” featuring Alexandre Pires and Soweto, singer Belo and other events. The venue has capacity for 72 thousand people.
Opened in 1960, Morumbi was built by the São Paulo Futebol Clube and has hosted several matches for the Brazilian team, as well as the finals of important championships, as well as international shows such as “Red Hot Chilli Peppers” and “Coldplay”. When the “Coldplay” concert took place, the Tricolor São Paulo stadium earned R$6 million just from stadium rentals, without taking into account participation in the sale of food and drinks. The Cícero Pompeu de Toledo Stadium, as it is also known, is the third largest stadium in Brazil and has a capacity for 66,795 thousand people.
