Camila Cabello speaks out after being photographed in Miami
Last Saturday (2), the singer posted a long rant on her Instagram profile criticizing the presence of photographers whenever she goes to a beach club in Miami, in the United States. Last year, Camila suffered body shaming on social media.
“Every time I felt super vulnerable and unprepared. I wore bikinis that were too small and didn’t pay attention to how I looked, then I saw pictures online and comments and I was so upset.” began the singer. “When it hit my self-esteem, I reminded myself that I was thinking society’s thoughts, not my own. A culture that has become so accustomed to an image of what a ‘healthy’ woman’s body looks like that isn’t entirely realistic for many women. Potty shopping, restrictive eating, over-exercising, and choosing angles that make our bodies look different than they do in the moment and in their natural form, when we take a deep breath, when we eat a meal, when we allow the waves to crash around us.”

The singer reported, in her text, that she listens to podcasts that talk about intuitive eating and that she follows women who accept their stretch marks, cellulite, swelling and that she is still “a single woman in her early 20s in the middle of a ton of promotions,” she added when talking about the bikini she bought to go to the beach. The singer added that she had not eaten anything “heavy” and that she put on lip gloss so she could go into the ocean because she knew she would be photographed.
Camila Cabello admitted that she had to hold her breath to hold her belly in because the paparazzi told her that her belly hurt so much that she could neither breathe nor smile. She made her discomfort with the situation very clear. The celebrity explained that she wanted to talk about this subject, because society sees photos of women and praises them for being beautiful and in considerably healthy shapes, but in reality we worry about physical appearance and forget about mental health.
The artist said that she is not ready to ignore this issue that upsets her so much.Intellectually, I know that my appearance does not determine how healthy, happy or sexy I am. Emotionally, the messages I receive from our world take priority in my mind.” Camila ended her outburst by saying that she is “exhausted” of the paparazzi around her.
