Carille denies Corinthians' proposal and seeks reinforcements for Santos

Despite the rumors about Corinthians' interest in Santos' coach, Fábio Carille says he has not received an offer from Corinthians to leave Peixe. This Monday (8), the coach said that, last week, he was focused on the matches against Chapecoense and Ceará, for the Série B of the Brazilian Championship.

Corinthians' interest

Carille said he heard about the comments regarding Corinthians' interest, but that last week was entirely dedicated to commitments with Santos. He said he had a conversation with the president of Peixe, where the subject was not discussed.

According to Carille, it was only on Saturday, after the 1-0 away win over Ceará, that he was able to analyze Corinthians' interest. In a telephone conversation with his agent Paulo Pitombeira, he was informed of Corinthians' interest, as they had fired Portuguese coach Antônio Oliveira. Despite the interest, the coach says he has not received any official proposal.

In an interview with journalist Fábio Sormani's channel, Carille also revealed that he spoke with the president's son on Saturday night. He gave him his position and reiterated the importance of the upcoming matches for the rest of Santos' season.

Search for Reinforcements

The transfer window opens next Wednesday, and according to the coach, Santos will be looking for five players to reinforce the squad. Carille confirmed that new players will arrive at Peixe, and said that the work is being done meticulously and within the club's reality.

“It’s a time when we have to work in silence. The conversation was very good today at the training center. In the next few days, I believe we can announce more players to make us stronger for the rest of the season,” he added.

Santos returns to the field next Monday (15), against Ituano, at home, at 8 pm, for the Brazilian Serie B. The team is coming off a victory away from home against Ceará.
