Carolina Herrera Presents 80s Classics at NYFW 2024

Perhaps one of the most anticipated shows for the Ready-to-Wear season, under the creative direction of Wes Gordon, the Carolina Herrera brand went back to the beginning of it all, in the 1980s, for the presentation of the brand's fashion show. The spring/summer 2025 collection show at NYFW took place on Monday morning (9), at Liberty Place. Check out more details of the show.

The classic polka dot, black and white

We always hear that classics always work, and Carolina Herrera's NYFW show proved this in spectacular fashion. Under the command of Creative Director Wes Gordon – who has held the position since 2018 – the show began with black and white pieces, with floral details, both on the pieces – such as bows or prints – and on the accessories worn by the models. The pieces varied in mid-length and long, including dresses, skirts and pants.

With bare shoulders and silhouettes, Wes Gordon brought back the brand's beginnings in the 1980s. No other colors besides black and white were used in the first half of the show, with the exception of some yellow accessories. Another thing that caught the eye were the polka dot pieces. Still recalling the brand's beginnings, the polka dot pieces were inspired by the brand's classics, which ended up becoming one of the hallmarks of Carolina Herrera's pieces, with pieces featuring voluminous, flowing skirts.

Color inspiration

In the second half of the show, the colors begin to appear. First comes bright red, followed by pink, delphinium blue and finishing with yellow, the color used in the brand's first perfume launch in 1988. Six colors were used in total, in addition to variations in shades of pink, red and yellow. In the last Carolina Herrera shows, one of the trademarks was the variations of colors used in the shows.

To the sound of Janet Jackson, the spring/summer 2025 collection show once again showcases a variety of pieces with cutouts, slits, volumes, ruffles and silhouettes. Once again, Wes Gordon demonstrated his ability to maintain the brand's tradition, but bringing a modern vision to today's woman.
