Check out how the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games took place

On Sunday afternoon (11), at the Stade de France, at 4 pm, the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games began, which was hosted by the city of Paris, the French capital. The games lasted from July 26 until today, August 11.

Last month, before the official opening ceremony of the Games, two days were occupied by some matches of sports, such as men's football and rugby, which took place on July 24 and 25.

Medal ranking

The United States was the country that won the most medals at the Olympic Games, with 126 medals. Second place went to China, with 91 medals, and third place went to Great Britain, with 65 medals. Brazil came in 12th place, tied with New Zealand, with a total of 20 medals, three of which were gold, seven silver and ten bronze.

The first act of the ceremony took place with the entrance of the flag bearers into the stadium representing their respective countries. For each flag, two athletes were chosen. In the case of Brazil, the winners of the gold medal in beach volleyball were chosen to enter the stadium with the flag. The players won the gold for Brazil with their victory over the Canadian duo last Friday (09).

Last podium of the Olympics

The last podium of the Olympic Games was set up to award medals to female marathon runners. The winner of the marathon was Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan, who won three medals in Paris, two bronze and one gold.

The Dutch runner's latest achievement was breaking an athletics record, completing the race in two hours and 22 minutes, winning the gold medal. The silver and bronze medalists were, respectively, Ethiopian Tigst Assefa and Kenyan Hellen Obiri.

The Golden Traveler

The Golden Traveler's performance was a moment filled with dancing and acrobatics, with French dancer Arthur Cadre taking part in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games. At the time of his appearance, the Golden Traveler had his encounter with the masked man who appeared at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

Los Angeles Segment

The Los Angeles segment featured actor Tom Cruise on stage, who followed up with a video of athletes running through Los Angeles.

For the musical performances, the beginning was with the show of the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers, followed by the performance of the singer Billie Eilish, who sang one of the songs from her latest album, entitled 'Birds of a Feather'. Another unprecedented musical performance was by Snoop Dogg together with Dr. Dre, where they both sang the well-known song 'The Next Episode'.

2028 Olympics

The next Olympic Games will take place in 2028 and will be held in Los Angeles, United States. At the Los Angeles Olympics, five new sports approved by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) will be added to the list. In addition, there are also some sports that may be excluded or at least undergo changes.

The extinguishing of the Olympic flame

At around 7pm (Brasília time), the tradition of representatives of the world's continents extinguishing the Olympic flame took place.

The next Olympic event to take place in Paris will be the 2024 Paralympic Games, which will begin this month, on the 28th.
