In addition to the sports, performances and medals that the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are providing, another factor that stands out in the event is the aesthetic choices of the athletes. Themed makeup, stylized hairstyles and decorated nails are some of the ways that competitors find to express their love for the country, the competition and also to attract the attention of the public.

Check out some of the best beauty trends athletes are embracing to showcase the Olympic spirit at the Paris 2024 Games.

Long nails and nail art

During the games, Sha'Carri Richardson turned heads with her many not-so-subtle nail art looks, a recurring element in her look. The American sprinter showed off long, colorful and fun nails, which even included a themed design with the colors of the United States flag, in homage to her country.

Smoky and lined eyes

In addition to making history as Brazil's greatest Olympic medalist, gymnast Rebeca Andrade stood out for her makeup throughout the competition, using different styles of graphic, colorful and very shiny eyeliner, which matched the colors of her costumes.

The cat-eye eyeliner was a standout during the rhythmic gymnastics competition; gymnasts such as Darja Varfolomeev and Bárbara Domingos opted for the style. The German opted for a more dramatic makeup look with a gradient eye that started with a lighter inner corner in golden tones and ended with a smoky black cat-eye. Meanwhile, the Brazilian opted for a more fun and colorful look, with a blue waterline.

Themed grillz and teeth piercings

A trend in the 2000s, tooth piercings are back for the 2024 Olympics. The shiny stones glued to the teeth with resin were worn by athletes such as gymnast Simone Biles and judoka Shirine Boukli.

Another dental adornment used by several athletes during the Olympic Games, such as basketball player Nyara Sabally and gymnast Jordan Chiles, were grillz, a metal jewel placed over the teeth.

Stylized braids

The practical and simple hairstyle was one of the most popular among athletes, who opted for styles such as the half-braided hairstyle finished with a bun or the hair completely braided, in the fishbone or boxer braid style.

Athletes like Brazilian volleyball player Ana Cristina and American soccer player Trinity Rodman, who already wear their hair in braids on a daily basis, have chosen to add an extra touch of style to their look by creating braids over braids.
