Organization claims 'Euphoria' glamorizes drugs

The series has become a huge hit, even earning Zendaya an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama, but not everyone is happy with the direction the show is taking. One organization has released a statement saying that the show glamorizes drug use. A representative for the organization, which calls itself DARE (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education), sent a statement to TMZ, saying, “Rather than supporting every parent's desire to keep their children safe from the potentially horrific consequences of drug abuse and other high-risk behaviors, HBO's television drama Euphoria chooses to wrongly glorify and misrepresent high school drug use, addiction, anonymous sex, violence, and other destructive behaviors as common and widespread in today's world.“.

“It is unfortunate that HBO, social media, television show critics, and paid advertising have chosen to describe the program as groundbreaking, rather than acknowledging the potential negative consequences on school-aged children who today face unparalleled risks and mental health challenges.”concludes the DARE representative
