Christian Bale to Play Pastor in Film Based on Drug Dealers

Deadline revealed the adaptation of an article written by David Kushner, “The Church of Living Dangerously”. Christian Bale will play John Lee Bishop and will be the film’s producer, and the script is by Charles Randolph. Ellen Goldsmith Vein and Eric Robinson are also involved in the project through The Gotham Group. However, the film still has no director, release date or official title confirmed.

The article tells the story of John Lee Bishop, a man with a difficult childhood who became a wealthy and successful pastor of a church in the northwest of the United States. However, unable to deal with all the fame, John ended up becoming addicted to alcohol and drugs, and after some time he started using methamphetamine and heroin to try to understand what effect the latter two had on his son. Thus, he became part of the drug smuggling for a Mexican cartel. And he was sentenced to five years in prison after crossing the border 20 times.

The actor is well known for playing the superhero Batman in the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan, which became a reference for Batman films. But he made his theater debut at the age of ten, alongside Rowan Atkinson, who played Mr. Bean, in The Nerd. And when he was still ten years old, he landed a role in a breakfast cereal commercial, which was his first TV job.
