There are remakes in the works of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, developer Remedy Entertainment has announced. The new games should appear as one package for the PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X and S.

For the remakes, an agreement has been concluded with Rockstar Games. That company, known from the Grand Theft Auto series, released the original Max Payne games.

Max Payne 1 and 2 appeared in 2001 and 2003 on the PC, Xbox and the PlayStation 2. The games told a crime story about a former cop, who goes in search of the killers of his wife and child. The games are best known for ‘bullet time’, which allowed time to be slowed down during shooting.

It will probably be a while before the Max Payne remakes are released. At the moment, the games are still in an early stage of development. A specific release date has not yet been given.

Remedy Entertainment gets a budget from Rockstar that is “comparable to a typical top production from the developer”.

Remedy previously threw high eyes with the mysterious action game Control and is now also working on Alan Wake 2.
