Corinthians has plans to sign Memphis Depay

Corinthians surprised the transfer market this Friday (6) after it was reported by the press that the team had agreed to negotiate the transfer of Dutch striker Memphis Depay, former Atlético de Madrid player, with a contract ending in 2026, the 30-year-old veteran should receive the amount of R$ 3 million per month.

One of the biggest reasons that leaves Corinthians fans perplexed is the fact that the team has a debt that in total amounts to around R$2.15 billion, corresponding to two parts: R$1.44 billion is related to the club's passive expenses (taxes, suppliers and other clubs) and the other part is R$710.1 million of financing made with Caixa Econômica Federal for the Neo Química Arena Stadium.

To solve this problem, Corinthians is counting on its new and biggest betting house sponsor, ''Esportes da Sorte'', which will provide the board with the amount of R$57 million to support the player during his time with the team. The rest will be paid by the club itself. In addition to the salary, the contract also includes bonuses and bonuses for the player for the first 28 months that will be played.

Who is Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay was revealed by PSV in the Netherlands, also having spells at big clubs such as: Manchester United, Olympique Lyonnais, Barcelona and his last club Atlético de Madrid, the athlete also represents the Dutch National Team, being the second highest scorer in the country, behind only Van Persie.

Depay has a total of ten titles in his career, six titles playing for PSV, four for Manchester United and only two representing Barça. The player will come to Brazil next weekend to undergo tests, and finally be officially announced as the new Corinthians striker.
