Corinthians negotiates with Estudiantes striker Guido Carrillo

Recommended by coach Ramón Diaz, Corinthians is negotiating the signing of Guido Carrillo, a 33-year-old forward who currently plays for Estudiantes de La Plata in Argentina. The player's contract runs until December, and the São Paulo club would be willing to pay financial compensation to have the athlete during the second half of the year.

So far, Timão has made six signings in the middle of this year, and is racing against time to sign another reinforcement before the transfer window closes.

Negotiations

Talks with representatives of the Argentine club have been going on for about a week. The Argentine came onto Timão's radar after attempts to sign Paraguayan Alex Arce, who plays for LDU, failed. According to the Ecuadorian club, the team was not willing to let go of the 29-year-old athlete.

Since then, Corinthians have continued to look for a reinforcement for the attack until Guido Carrillo entered their radar. Estudiantes even offered to renew the Argentine's contract, but there has still been no response from the player.

Brazil's transfer window is open until September and the club has already made six signings in the middle of the year, namely: Talles Magno (forward), Hugo Souza (goalkeeper), Alex Santana (defensive midfielder), Charles (defensive midfielder), André Ramalho (defender), and the 30-year-old Venezuelan, José Martínez (defensive midfielder), who plays for Philadelphia Union (USA) and should arrive in Brazil in the next few days to sign the contract.

The Argentine was discovered in 2011 by his current team, Estudiantes de La Plata. During his career, he played for European clubs such as Monaco (France), Southampton (England), Leganés and Elche (both in Spain), and Hanan Songshan Longmen (China). In 2023, he returned to Estudiantes and was a standout player in the Copa Argentina.

This season, Carrillo played 24 games and scored 10 goals. He was also a standout player in the Argentine League Cup. The Argentine athlete has played 426 games and scored 97 goals during his career.
