Corinthians shows good football on the field and beats Vasco da Gama at Neo Química Arena

The match between Corinthians and Vasco, in the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship, was a direct confrontation to remain in the G9. With coordinated plays and good aim, the home team scored three goals, without giving Cruzmaltino a chance to react. The match ended 3-1. The goals came from Gustavo Henrique and Rodrigo Garro, who scored twice and Puma Rodríguez, who scored for Vasco.

Three goals and Corinthians supremacy in the first half

Timão went all out on their opponent one minute into the game. The striker and team captain, Ángel Romero, volleyed the ball into the back of the Vasco net, but the ball went out. It didn't take long, and after 10 minutes, the first black and white goal came. After Rodrigo Garro's corner kick, defender Gustavo Henrique managed to stand out in the penalty area, and with a header, he opened the scoring, with no chance for Léo Jardim to defend.

The fans were still celebrating the goal, when in the 14th minute, Garro received the ball from Romero and shot low, but with force, from inside the area. The second goal left coach Rafael Paiva and the Vasco players astonished, while on the other side, Corinthians were already working to increase the score even further. The Corinthians attack continued to threaten, and the third goal almost came in the 23rd minute, with Romero. Without wasting time, the striker connected with Garro, who sent the ball into the corner of the post, after a mistake by midfielder Galdames.

The Vasco coach found himself under pressure to change the team, and in the 30th minute he removed striker Leandrinho and full-back Paulo Henrique, allowing defender Maicon and striker Emerson Rodríguez to enter. Léo Jardim also avoided expanding the score, with good saves. After the final whistle, Vegetti had a disagreement with Matheus Bidu and Breno Bidon, requiring the intervention of other players before the teams went down to the dressing room.

Vasco reacts, but fails to turn the game around

In search of a reaction, Vasco returned to the field with two important changes, with the entry of Philippe Coutinho and Jair, and the departure of Payet and Vegetti, who added little in the first stage. The growing pressure to react led Cruzmaltino to receive the first yellow card of the match, after Galdames committed a foul on Rodrigo Garro.

On the opposite side, Corinthians remained confident and in the 10th minute, defender André Ramalho almost scored the fourth goal of the match, but Léo Jardim prevented it with a good save. Inspired, Garro tried once again to leave his mark, as did Talles Magno, but the Vasco archer was paying attention.

The Vasco reaction came in the 30th minute, with Puma Rodríguez, who shot into the corner and with no possibility of defense from Hugo Souza. Ramón Diaz made his first changes to the team then, and removed Carrillo, Talles Magno and Ángel Romero and added Coronado, Pedro Raul and Pedro Henrique, to hold the score. In the following minutes, Alex Santana and Charles replaced Raniele and Garro, while on the Vasco side, Galdames gave way to Alex Teixeira. With little time to react, Vasco was unable to attack and suffered yet another defeat in the Brazilian Championship.

With their sixth consecutive victory, Corinthians now occupies 9th place, with 47 points. Vasco da Gama, on the other hand, suffered its fourth consecutive defeat, and fell to 11th place, potentially being left out of next year's international competitions.
