Corona cases Victoria

Outgoing Prime Minister Rutte and outgoing Minister Hugo de Jonge (Public Health) announced on Friday evening that most corona rules are expected to apply until 20 September and that it seems that clubs and discotheques cannot reopen until around 1 November. Below is an answer to your questions about the press conference.

How will we deal with, for example, returning from holiday? Now you still have to quarantine if you come from an orange or red country. How and what can we expect?

Free travel testing will be extended until October 1. So people who travel in September can also have a free travel test taken. Furthermore, the outgoing cabinet did not say anything about this. It therefore seems that the situation will remain the same for the time being.

At the moment, the corona measures differ per country when they return home. On this website you can find out exactly which documents you need when you return to the Netherlands. It is also recommended that you be tested at home anyway, even if you are fully vaccinated.

It is likely that the corona measures (and whether you should be quarantined) will continue to depend on the color code of the (holiday) country, which indicates whether it is a high-risk area or not.

Isn’t it too risky to relax when schools reopen and holidaymakers come back?

Because of the summer holidays, students are not at school and there are fewer people at work. This reduces the contact moments when people can become infected. It is possible that this explains why the number of infections is now relatively low, but no one knows if this is really the case.

According to virologist Ab Osterhaus, it is uncertain what will happen to the number of corona infections when people return from their summer holidays and education reopens.

According to Minister De Jonge, some 1.8 million people in the Netherlands still do not have immunity to the coronavirus. “If they all get infected, you have a problem in the hospitals,” Osterhaus said. For this reason, De Jonge also wants to be cautious about the easing.

Will the costs for testing for access be passed on to the unvaccinated after 20 September (or later)? Will they have to pay for the test themselves and what will it cost?

At the moment, entrance tests are still free, but that will eventually come to an end. The government does not want unvaccinated people to be able to pass a test free of charge if almost everyone is vaccinated.

To critical questions during the press conference, De Jonge replied that this is not an example of vaccination pressure. He calls it “a strong incentive” to persuade unvaccinated people to get pricked.

It is not known when the own contribution will start and how much it will cost.

What does this mean for weddings or parties with more than a hundred people? What if the measures are indeed relaxed after 20 September?

Weddings and parties with more than 100 people are likely to be allowed again from September 20. The final decision will follow on 17 September.

However, more than 75 people have to work with a corona admission certificate. This applies to indoor and outdoor use, with or without fixed seating areas. You will receive a corona admission certificate when you have been vaccinated, have recovered from a corona infection or have a negative test of no less than 24 hours old.

The government hopes that these measures can all be released after 1 November.

Are indoor festivals now (probably) allowed again from 20 September? Or does this fall under the category of nightclubs/nightclubs and can this only be done from 1 November?

Indoor festivals (such as Sensation White) fall under the category of events. From 20 September, fixed seating areas will no longer be requirements in the hospitality industry and at events. There is also no longer a maximum capacity. This would mean that indoor festivals would be allowed to continue, provided that a corona admission ticket is requested at festivals with more than 75 people.

Does mandatory testing from 75 people as of 20 September also apply to places of worship?

At the moment, people are allowed to come together for their faith or beliefs, provided they keep 1.5 meters away from people who are not roommates. There is no ban on singing.

Because of the right to freedom of religion or belief, the various umbrellas of faith communities in the Netherlands make their own agreements about measures in the church, mosque, synagogue or other places of worship. They usually communicate these measures to their supporters.

Until when do corona access certificates continue to apply? Is this also until the target date of 1 November? Corona cases Victoria

Yes, until 1 November you must be able to show a corona admission ticket when you are in the hospitality industry, at events or at art and culture in a place where more than 75 people are present. After 1 November, the government hopes to be able to release this measure as well.

What are the measures relating to primary education? Are there any restrictions there? Are parents welcome back to the schools?

At the moment there is no 1.5 meters distance. Not between the students themselves and not to the teacher. Nothing else was said about this during the press conference, so we can assume that it will continue to be so.

Specific rules about parents taking their children to school are up to schools themselves to determine. It is obvious that schools that do not let those parents in because it is difficult to keep 1.5 meters away, abolish that rule when the one and a half meter rule disappears nationwide. If all goes well, it will be from 20 September.
