How to Undo Actions on iPhone
It is worth mentioning that several applications have dedicated buttons to undo or redo actions. For those that don't support these buttons, there are several gestures you can use to undo your last action on iPhone and iPad, and here are five of those ways.
1. Shake to undo
After typing text in Messages, Notes, Mail, or another app, just give your iPhone a quick shake. When the “Undo Typing” pop-up appears, tap “Undo” to delete the text you just typed. If you received this pop-up by accident and do not want to undo your entry, tap “Cancel”.
Typically, this feature is enabled by default; If you want to configure it, follow these steps:
- Open “Settings”;
- Tap “Accessibility”;
- Tap “Ringtone”;
- Set the “Shake to Undo” toggle to on or off.
2. Three-finger swipe
You can undo your typing by swiping three fingers to the left. This shortcut works across all built-in and third-party apps on both iPhone and iPad. You will see an “Undo” pop-up appear at the top of the screen, and the last action will be undone. To redo, simply swipe the screen with three fingers to the right.
3. Tap with three fingers
You can also undo typing by using three fingers to double-tap the screen. Just like swiping, you will see an “Undo” pop-up. Additionally, in many applications, you can open a formatting bar by tapping the screen once with three fingers.
