Cuca makes a curious statement after winning the title with Athletico Paranaense

Shortly after winning his first title with Athletico, Cuca made a curious statement during an interview after the game that consecrated the team as Champion of Paraná 2024 – Athletico beat Maringá last night, at Ligga Arena 3-0 and won the title. The team commander stated that he will send the Paraná Champion medal to Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, his predecessor in command of the team.

During the press conference, Cuca explained that Osorio commanded a greater number of games. From the first round until the first leg of the quarterfinals, Furacão had the Colombian coach on the field. Subsequently, Cuca took command of the team for the remainder of the competition, achieving 100% success in five matches. He reinforced that the technical committee and his predecessor played most of the championship and that the medal will be sent in a real way and not just figuratively.

Winning streak

Despite having little time as coach of Athletico, Cuca has already started a winning streak in charge of Furacão. The team beat Londrina (6-0), Operário-PR (2-1 and 1-0) and Maringá (1-0 and 3-0). The 13 goals scored led the team to achieve the best attack in the state, with a total of 29 goals in the competition. At the same time, with only one goal conceded and seven throughout the championship, the Paraná Champion had the least leaked defense.

Upcoming games

Next Tuesday, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), Athletico returns to the field to face Rayo Zuliano, from Venezuela, in the second round of the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. On April 14th, Furacão will face Cuiabá. The match will be the team's first game in the Brasileirão Série A, 2024.
