Demi Moore, Bruce Willis' ex-wife, speaks out about the actor's retirement
The announcement about the challenging time that actor Bruce Willis, 67, has been going through due to an illness, was made via Instagram on Wednesday (the 30th) by Rummer Willis, the star's eldest daughter, along with Demi Moore, his ex-wife, 59. This statement moved the web and was republished by Demi on her profile, emphasizing that the moment has been very difficult for the family, since from then on, the actor had to pause his career.

On a photo of Bruce, the family wrote: “We would like to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities..”
According to the Brazilian Society of Speech Therapy, aphasia is a neurological language disorder with no cure – but can be treated by a speech therapist – that compromises the ability to communicate, the way one expresses oneself verbally, and, at the same time, the ability to understand. It has several causes, such as a stroke, brain tumor, brain infection, or even affects an individual gradually and progressively. In the case of the star, the family did not reveal what caused the disorder in the actor.
Born in Germany and raised in the United States, the actor is well-known for his major Hollywood productions, and has won two Emmys, one for the series Cat and Mouse (1987), and another for his role in the series Friends (2000). Due to his great success, the hiatus in his career surprised moviegoers around the world.
“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him… We are going through this as a close family and wanted to share it with his fans because we know how much he means to you, just as you mean to him..” completes the family's statement in a tone of gratitude.
Remembering that Bruce is not the first celebrity to be diagnosed with this disease. Other stars have also had this history such as Emilia Clarke and Sharon Stone.
