Disney is already developing a Jungle Cruise sequel!

Today, the 30th (Monday), Disney confirmed that the recent film 'Jungle Cruise' will gain a sequel. According to the website The Hollywood Report The film's box office performance was what prompted Disney to bet on a sequel. In the US, the film managed to surpass the US$100 million mark, and worldwide the figures are approximately US$187 million at the global box office, even though the film is also available through Premier Access on Disney+.

Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji; Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw) and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place; The Girl on the Train) are likely to star in this new film, as Captain Frank Wolff and Dr. Lily Houghton respectively. Behind the scenes, Michael Green and Jaume Collet-Serra are also expected to return.

In the first film, we follow Dr. Lily Houghton, who asks Captain Frank Wolff to help her take her to the Amazon in his old boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal, and this discovery could change the future of medicine.

The story, like Pirates of the Caribbean, is inspired by one of the attractions at Disney theme parks, and this ride has been one of the attractions since its opening in 1955. The film was developed by Disney for 15 years before hitting theaters.

The second film, although confirmed, has not yet received details about the plot or a release date. Some names from the first film, such as Jesse Plemons (I'm Thinking of Ending Things), Paul Giamatti (Billions) and Édgar Ramirez (Steel Fists) have not yet been confirmed for this sequel, although the chance of them returning is almost zero.
