Djokovic feels appreciated

Novak Djokovic has a good feeling about his return to the tennis court. The much-discussed Serb celebrated his return on Monday with a victory in Dubai.

His win over Lorenzo Musetti (6-3, 6-3) marked the start of his season for Djokovic, after he was expelled from Australia last month for not being vaccinated. As a result, he was unable to participate in the Australian Open. #Djokovic

“I couldn’t have wished for a better return. I have been well received by most of my fellow tennis players, who said they thought it was great that I’m back. That feels great,” said Djokovic after his win over Musetti.

“I am very grateful for that. Understanding and support from my generation and colleagues is very important to me, because they are the ones I sometimes see more often than my family. I value our bond very much.”

‘Don’t think I’m playing in Indian Wells’

Djokovic can participate in Dubai because vaccination is not mandatory in the emirate. That is it at the Masters tournament in Indian Wells in America at the beginning of March, in which he would prefer to participate.

“But as it stands now, I don’t play there. But we’ll wait and see,” said the twenty-time Grand Slam winner. “Maybe things will change in the coming weeks.”

Djokovic may lose his leading position in the world rankings to Daniil Medvedev in the coming days. That will happen anyway if the Russian wins the ATP tournament in Acapulco, Mexico.
