Rumors about a quarrel between the two Volendammers flared up again last weekend by a broadcast of SBS program I Want Your Song. TV reviewers noticed that there was hardly any interaction between the duo.
“If you are a guest together in a TV program where you barely give each other a look worthy of a look, hardly talk to each other and also confirm that you never actually agree with each other, even a bloody serious reviewer starts speculating,” writes Alex Mazereeuw in the Volkskrant.
Television expert Tina Nijkamp agrees. “I really noticed that Nick and Simon didn’t look at each other once in I Want Your Song. Not even in the clip,” she says referring to the music video for the song Live The Day that emerged from the program.

Meanwhile, the Instagram accounts of Nicki Schilder, Simon Keizer and their wives are also fodder for speculation about a possible quarrel. Kirsten Schilder, Nick’s wife, no longer follows Simon on Instagram, but his wife Annemarie still does. Nick still follows Simon, but Simon’s wife does not. Simon only follows five accounts, of which Nick is not one. Simon’s wife Annemarie is the only one who still follows her own husband, the other half of the duo and his wife.
Shownieuws knows to report that the singers did not travel together to their performance at Festival Zand in Almere last weekend. For example, Nick was in a traffic jam, while Simon was present on time. So they did not drive the same car, while they both live in Volendam. A reporter of the program says that during the performance in Almere there was hardly any interaction between the men.
As the rumors swell, Nick Simon remain silent in all languages. The singers will not speak to the press before they take a seat on the talk show Jinek on Monday 29 August to talk about their future plans. Then it will become more clear about how definitive the fracture is and possibly also what is the cause of it.
