This Monday (1) the legal battle in which Ed Sheeran is involved gets another chapter: the artist appeared in court to give his statement about the case, in his statement he called the statements made against him criminal and also stated that if he were to lose the case, his career would end.
And according to the newspaper New York Postthe music star gave a new statement and presented himself to the jury. And Ed Sheeran played several excerpts from a song by van morrison and strummed a sequence of 4 chords, which he is being accused of stealing. The singer took advantage of the moment to refute the arguments of the musicologist and the accusers’ experts Alexander Stewart, who last week highlighted some similarities between the two songs.
“If that happens, I'll finish, I'll stop. I really think it's an insult to work all my life as a singer-songwriter and be diminished… To be honest, what he (Alexander) is doing here is criminal… I don't know how he can be an expert. Obviously just my opinion here… I personally know what I’m playing on the guitar.”

The long legal battle experienced by the British artist began after the release of the song in 2014 “Thinking Out Loud” in which he was accused of plagiarism. The charge against Ed Sheeran is for allegedly stealing elements of the song.”Let's Get It On” (1973) by Marvin Gaye.
In demonstration, the lawyer, Ben Crump, who is responsible for defending the estate of one of the co-authors of the famous song, stated that he has robust and irrefutable evidence that Ed Sheeran is guilty and must be condemned.
This is not the first time that Ed Sheeran involved in cases of plagiarism. The year passing, 2022, the singer Tembé had to give a statement about problems involving the copyright of the famous song “Shape Of You”, however, the singer was acquitted of the charges.
